The Tanzanite Suite — 18ct Yellow Gold

This was only ever meant to be one piece.

The Tanzanite Suite began with a pear-cut natural tanzanite pendant. Its depth of blue-violet colour is set against irregularly hammered 18ct yellow gold, allowing the metal to become part of the design rather than simply its setting.

Two further pear-cut natural tanzanites, approximately 1.00ct each, continue the same design language into a pair of articulated drop earrings. Hammered gold surrounds the stones, while polished gold tops and articulated drops allow the earrings to move naturally when worn.

The suite is made to order and the pendant stone is selected with the client, starting from approximately 1.50ct. As a guide, a suite based on a 1.50ct pendant and two approximately 1.00ct earrings totals approximately 3.50ct of natural tanzanite. The final total carat weight will vary according to the pendant stone selected.

Tanzanite is found commercially in only one small area of northern Tanzania. Its restricted geographic origin and distinctive blue-violet colour give it an unusual place among the world’s coloured gemstones.

Each jewel has a life of its own. The pendant can be worn alone; the earrings without it. Worn together, the relationship between the three pieces becomes part of the design.

They were made to belong together.
